Edison Stoccaggio has offered storage services since 2001, providing its customers with all the benefits of the industry’s liberalisation and offering the competence and expertise of a major operator.

Edison Stoccaggio’s goal is to make available, through our constant, daily effort, flexible and innovative solutions, enabling our customers to focus on their own core business.

Edison Stoccaggio S.p.A. offers its services relying on the co-ordinated, optimised use of 3 storage reservoirs, currently undergoing development, which at present enable us to offer approximately 6% of the capacity available in Italy. No later than 1 February of every year, Edison Stoccaggio S.p.A. publishes the available storage capacities, providing Shippers with the following services on an annual basis:

  1. the strategic storage service is directed at overcoming supply shortages and it is provided to entities importing natural gas from Countries not belonging to the European Union (Article 3 of Italian Legislative Decree no. 164/00);
  2. the modulation storage service is directed at enabling to modulate gas delivery according to daily, seasonal and peak consumption trends.

Edison Stoccaggio S.p.A provides qualified Shippers with freedom to access the storage services, equal conditions and service transparency, distinguishing itself by its flexibility and professionalism.

Moreover, during the Thermal Year, if storage capacity is available, Edison Stoccaggio S.p.A. makes new capacity assignments according to the procedures prescribed by the Storage Code. To promote market liquidity and a more flexible use of natural gas storage, Edison Stoccaggio S.p.A. is willing to consider Shippers’ requests for services whose technical-economic characteristics differ from those defined for the aforesaid services. If the requested service is technically feasible and fulfils the criteria set out in Article 8.6 of Resolution no. 119/05, the economic conditions will be negotiated between Edison Stoccaggio S.p.A and the Shipper. Said conditions shall then be sent to the Authority for approval, in compliance with Article 8.9 of Resolution no. 119/05.
