The storage facility is equipped with all machines and systems required to carry out processing and control operations for the injection of the natural gas from the transport system into the underground reservoirs and to withdraw volumes of gas from the reservoir to the transport network.

In the storage facilities, gas undergoes the following main processes:

• Treatment, consisting of the removal of water originating from the geological formation to provide the gas with the required quality specifications before injecting it into the gas pipeline;
• Compression of the gas originating from the S.G.I. network for injection into the reservoir.

Both the Cellino and Collalto storage facilities have obtained the UNI EN ISO 14001 (environment) and OHSAS 18001 (safety) certifications. Lastly, the Cellino Facility is the first Gas Facility to attain the “EMAS” certification, i.e. the highest level of recognition in Europe in terms of environmental protection.
