TDP First Application In Continental Europe With Edison Stoccaggio (Well Operations)

Feb. 21, 2024

In the 2023 Edison Stoccaggio developed a well completion design intervention free to minimize the use of slickline and coiled tubing during completion operations due to severe wells path with inclination between 65°/70°; on this aim Edison Stoccaggio and Baker Hughes jointly selected a TDP - tubing disappearing plug manufactured by TCO (Norway) to be installed in the completion tail pipe with the purpose to set the production packer against such glass disk, downhole barrier ISO14998 V0 certified, in place during BOP and Xmas Tree installation and furthermore to already have the well in underbalance conditions ready to be cleaned-up.

The TDP has been successfully installed in two UGS (underground gas storage) workover wells, correctly cycled and opened upon 12 pressure cycles as per product design and procedures and full bore access gained with the well starting to flow. Pressure cycles have been performed with a Baker Hughes Triplex Pump equipped with digital pressure recording devices and the operations were independently supervised by Edison Stoccaggio personnel.

Strong collaboration from the early engagement led Edison Stoccaggio and Baker Hughes to achieve a record as first application in Continental Europe saving more than 3 operating days each well and eliminating all the potential operating risks associated to slickline and coiled tubing operations.
